Hello there. I was pondering a long time whether to post here or not. A lot of people at the office read this thread and many are forum addicts when it comes to reading it. But 99% of all the devs are not in a position to tell you what you want to hear. I work in QA, I can only speak about things related to my work. I can't comment on game design, software, art, management, HR, the kitchen, the CSM. So I abstained from posting here. Even if I would have answered some QA question I would have been either flamed or my words taken as the law. When I say 'This is easy to fix' or 'We are thinking about doing X and Y' or 'I really like that proposal' then people interpret this as a given and will make angry threads when it doesn't happen in the next two weeks.
I personally don't know any employee here at CCP who doesn't really like or outright love his job and EVE. Everybody deeply cares about EVE since it is our own future hanging in the balance should it go up in flames. We are not making decisions on a whim or flip a coin. We want EVE to stay around forever. I'd like to keep on working on this great game for the rest of my professional life and I will do the best I can to make this happen. However little that may be in the grand scheme of things. All the people on our other projects are very much in love with EVE too since these projects would not be possible without EVE and all of you guys. On every bigger presentation I've heard from them they always start with thanking us for EVE and its players and the great things that have been achieved. Whether it is some core technology we share between projects or people helping each other or just learning from the past mistakes. There is also nobody abandoning EVE or putting it on life-support. Since I started here almost 2 years ago the amount of people working only on EVE and nothing else has only ever grown. They are not getting shoved into other projects and whatever else people here are screaming. This growth trend for the EVE team is also not going to stop any time soon.
So maybe this personal rant isn't what you wanted to hear but there it is. I can assure you that all the top tiers of EVE development are reading this thread (even the ones on holidays, which are a lot since July is the holiday month for most people here). And you will hear back form us, we do appreciate all feedback and we sincerely want to move on from here and improve things for all parties involved. How that will look I don't know. It will also not please all of you. But such is the nature of these things.
I shall now get back to my day off and wear a flame proof suit.
Maybe Some Of The QA Department Can Make a Proposal To Devert a Greater portion of the resources at CCP to fix ongoing issues and release mini patches to implement them more quickly, Grab the Ball and Run With It. Fix the issues the players are concearned with and it will go along ways to quiet the issues that have been brought forth in this thread, what they player base needs is a few of you at CCP to champion what we feel is important, if you love the game, this shouldnt be an issue.
